With all of the power outages, we are recommending to winterize your pool equipment. This is done by tripping the equipment breaker, pulling all of the drain plugs from each piece of equipment. 2 plugs per pump, 1 on filter, and at least 1 on heater. Be sure to break up ice that forms on the pool frequently.

If you expect to lose power like most of us have, turn off the power to your pool equipment and pull out all of the drain plugs in each piece of equipment. There should be at least 1 on the heater, 1 on the filter, and 2 per pump. Drain as much water out as possible. Keep busting up the ice that forms in the pool and spa to prevent structural damage. Installing something that will allow the ice to crush in on it is helpful. Up north they use metal barrels. I heard about big air-filled balls that help as well. We are truly all in this together. Our company pool equipment has been damaged as well.
