We’re a family business and we truly appreciate your support and understanding as we rode the 2020 roller coaster. To our brand partners. Thank you. From the support when the world was turning upside down, to trading terms, to finding stock for us that didn’t exist. ... And most importantly, to our team. Much love, thanks and gratitude: To our Warehouse who have been scrambling to get through late deliveries caused by shipping delays. Our Head Office team who have adapted to the ever changing world and pulled together the opening of our amazing new Stormriders store and launched our Junior Team program. And to our frontline, our team in our stores, who have been serving our customers as best they can in an ever changing environment and in the face of the unknown - not to mention a global shortage of stock. On a personal note. As difficult as 2020 has been, there is a lot to be grateful for. Family, friends, our community. We truly live in the lucky country. As a business we definitely don’t get it right all the time, there’s so many things we want and need to work on at any given moment. Having said that, we are more focused than ever on being better corporate citizens and for our business being a vehicle for good - stay tuned! Last week we celebrated the special milestone of 30 years of service of our Operations Manager Paul Porky Worboys. Porky started with the business with (then owner) Daryl Garthon as a cheeky 15 year old team rider and then shop grommet in our Taree store. After a brief stint at university, Porky took the reins of the Taree store in 1990 and has been with us ever since! He is a gatekeeper of our culture and a big part of what we do. He’s been a trusted right hand man to Ma...cka (Anthony Wilson) over the past 30 years and together with Ross Dreise, our Forster store Manager, make up the 3 amigos aka the 3 stooges! To commemorate the milestone, Macka & Ness presented Paul with a custom made Bob Brown twin fin stinger - Bob is a special part of our history, he started Saltwater Wine in 1975 and then in the mid 80’s was Porky’s first surfboard sponsor. Some hi lights of Porky’s time include: First board sponsor - Bob Brown splitting his head open surfing at our first Managers Meeting at Crescent Head in 1993ish frothing at the old Boardstore in 2008 Maldives trip to celebrate 20 years service a mid winters dip in Bass Straight after Red Herring IT change over. long weeks and silly times with the HO team. taking out the Australian Retailer of the Year award. 2020 planning meeting pre COVID Heartfelt thanks to Porky for 30 years of service, dedication and good times!
