The UN General Assembly has today adopted its first ever resolution on drowning! Such an important milestone for all working to prevent this silent epidemic tha...t has killed more than 2,5 million people during the last decade. The resolution is a clear call for global action and it provides a framework for the global and national cooperation. And the resolution also declared every 25 July the World Drowning Prevention Day. The vast majority of those who die by drowning in boating accidents are not wearing a life jacket. According to some research up to 70-80 percent of these drown...ings could have been prevented if boaters were always wearing a life jacket. It is important to regularly check that the jacket is in good condition and that it is appropriate for the activity and a proper fit for the wearer.
