Dear IG, The key to creativity is to keep doing what YOU love. Once you start listening to criticism and unwarranted advice from others, you begin to lose your spark. The more you create for them, the less passionate you become. Create for you. If others like it, great. If they don’t, it’s not for them anyway. Be selfish with your art and pour your soul into what you are truly passionate about.... There’s a few new things I’m planning to roll out soon - some handmade, some not - all of which I (and others) put a lot of thought and time into. New look, same vibe. . The only constant is change and there has been a LOT of change happening lately. With everything going on, we’ve all had to learn how to cope, adapt, and most especially how to thrive in this time of uncertainty. . Here at Halia & Jade, we’ve been learning new skills, trying new things, collaborating within the community, and constantly making changes as we go. As we come upon our 3rd anniversary (holy shit has it really been 3 years?), we are so excite...d to begin our 4th year with a new look that is more suited to our brand. . It was such a great experience to work with John Bermudes of Ladron Creative on this project and as a maker (and control freak) I am so grateful that he shared his process with me because I learned so much about what actually goes into creating a logo and branding images. (Hint: it’s not just downloading cool fonts online and slapping them on photos in photoshop). [Coming summer ‘21.] For some time now, I’ve been wanting to create more than just bikinis. I love what I do and I wouldn’t ever want to stop doing it, but what started off as a fun hobby, turned into a business and so I had to find other things that allowed me the freedom to create and learn new skills. In the past, these were just personal projects - things I made out of necessity or was inspired to create in the spur of the moment. This year however, a few friends and I ha...ve come together to challenge ourselves to create and share new pieces, looks, and projects in an effort to cultivate our skills and inspire other emerging designers by providing a foundation with which to build a fashion community. This is something we’ve all wanted and longed for separately but it took us coming together to finally realize that we needed to be the change we wanted to see and create the community we wanted to be a part of. This is the first step of a long journey that we’re excited to begin. We’re looking for likeminded individuals who enjoy fashion design and creating wearable art to join us in a digital fashion showcase to debut in Summer 2021.
