Kaikoura, South Island, New Zealand This was without a doubt my favorite place in New Zealand’s South Island (I may regret saying that as I actually loved it all for different reasons) However, in Kaikoura, the abundance of marine life was unbelievable! There were seals lazing around on the rocks between the road and the water when we first arrived. You can easily go snorkeling with them, or even just go to visit them (maybe take a nose plug)... There are also whale watching and dolphin snorkeling trips available. I was skeptical about snorkeling with the dolphins as I had seen dolphins in the wild quite a few times already. However this experience was incredible The dolphins the captain found were called ‘dusky dolphins’ which I have never seen before and they were a playful little surprise! These dolphins would spin around us in circles and if we spun on the spot, they would just keep spinning around us. I was so in love that I spun and spun until I could spin no more If you do plan to go to NZ, Kaikoura is an absolute must see! If you have been already, What wildlife did you see while there? @laurie_winter

Floating in the ocean is without a doubt some of the best memories I have. A complete meditation that relaxes me so much its impossible to not be happy. Think after 2020, we will all need to move closer to the beach. It’s scientifically proven that the ocean is good for our mental health, here’s just three of the many reasons why... The colour of the ocean and the sky, which are associated to open spaces and wide horizons, inspires tranquillity, relaxation and quietness.... The white noise of waves breaking on the rocks relaxes our brains and stimulates the production of feel-good chemicals in our body, including serotonin and dopamine. an oceanic climate, characterised by strong ventilation and intense ultraviolet radiation all year long, is particularly good for the respiratory tract. The bioclimate of the seaside regions is sedative, calming and helps recover from some diseases including heart attacks, seasonal allergies and even depressive neuroses. As if I needed any more excuses! Get me to the ocean ASAP! Anybody joining? Love these pictures @the.scuba.girl

8th OCTOber is world octopus day! How fitting for these 8 armed friends!!! Octopus are well and truly deserving of a day to celebrate them. Hands down one of the most interesting animals to observe underwater. I could spend hours watching what they do! Especially when they are courting. The interesting thing about octopus mating is that the female octopus is often bigger and hungrier then the male. Therefore the male needs to be cautious of the constant risk that, instead ...of mating, the female will strangle him and eat him. The males have a host of tricks up their 8 sleeves to survive the mating process, some of them can quite literally mate at arms length! Others sneak into a females den disguised as another female, or even sacrifice their mating arm and make a hasty retreat once the deed is done. Tough life for male octopuses eh!?! @thefrogeye

How I’m feeling about finally having the new leggings and getting them on the website Officially online, what’s so good about our leggings you ask??? Made from recycled plastic - The fabric is a polyester which means instead of using new plastics to form this polyester we use recycled plastic. We use any plastic that you see the recycled symbol and the letters PET.... Environmental benefits - Recycling reduces the consumption of virgin raw materials. The production also involves reduced water and energy consumption. Unique ocean inspired designs - I have hand drawn ALL prints myself from photos and memories of my own. They are completely unique. Ethically hand made with love - The whole design process is done by me, I also make all samples myself from scratch. They are produced in bigger numbers at a factory I know personally and love. Slow fashion - I do not stick to current trends, the prints are timeless and therefore, there will be no need for quick makes and quick sales before the new seasons print/style. Less waste - I have already collected and sorted through the leggings waste fabrics so I can make more scrunchies and other bits from the waste of this production. Available online now

Yes it was comfortable laid here No it really wasn’t. There was also a massive spider sat directly behind my head can you see it? This is my absolute favorite SeaMorgens bikini top, I could live in it ... Would anybody else happily just wear a bikini for the rest of their life if they could get away with it? Does anybody with a bigger chest then me (almost everybody) have this top? Many people worry this will not support a bigger chest, I’m interested to hear thoughts?

Back in a lockdown so had to be creative and find a way to photograph our new leggings in the house. Absolutely amazed by what you can do with a whiteish wall, a semi professional camera and photoshop! I finally did it and the leggings are officially on the website ... I cannot wait until I can arrange a professional photoshoot with anybody other then me. Maybe in 2022 Is anybody else back in lockdown? Not sure what’s going on everywhere worldwide but feel like I may be far from alone over here. I hope everybody is fine wherever you may be, it’s been such a tough year but we are all in this together

Koh Haa Lagoon, Thailand One of the best places to dive in Thailand if you ask me maybe you don’t agree? I do have a huge love for it’s neighbors, Hin Daeng and Hin Muang, however the conditions there are not quite as easy and laid back as the lagoon.... Koh Haa Lagoon has beautiful clear water and it’s actually more like 4 different dive sites as it’s quite a large area. Usually the boat parks in the centre of the lagoon and you dive around one of the islands. The corals around the island vary from slopes to walls, with both soft and hard corals. There as also a few caves and swim throughs to be found I saw a lot of diverse life here, from the biggest of fish like a whale shark to some of the smallest of critters like ghost pipefish and sea moths that hang around on the patches of coral in the sandy areas You can visit here from Koh Lanta, which is a beautiful island to stay on, but that’s a story for another day. @cristianlaclare

So much love for these majestic gentle giants! Did you know that Mantas have huge brains, the biggest of any fish, with especially developed areas for learning, problem solving and communicating. As if we needed more reasons to love them ... Thanks for this epic shot @sandyseabottom @bopardau @seamorgens

This is the sad state of the Bali beaches after an epic rainfall. Now all the surrounding villages and communities are being made to work collectively to clean it up before the tide takes it out to sea. The sad truth... ... I see this every year without fail. In the water and on the beaches. Everyday is a beach clean in the rain season. Many will believe this trash was dumped in the ocean, it was in fact dumped inland and due to the rain the waterways have taken it to the beach. Most of this trash is single use and not recyclable, so once taken from the beach, it still has to go somewhere. Much better that it was never used in the first place. This same thing happens everywhere, worldwide, you should never dump rubbish anywhere apart from a bin. We are all responsible for this, the whole world needs to come together to be more careful what we do with our trash. Did you know that in the past, trash from Australia, Europe and North America has been sent to Indonesia to be ‘disposed of’. What can we do... Make smarter more sustainable choices and consume less. Recycle responsibly and properly. If you see rubbish anywhere, pick it up and dispose of it properly, even if it’s not your own. Remember... To leave the world better then you found it, sometimes you need to pick up other peoples trash ~ Bill Nye

Siargao island, Philippines One of the best and only places to surf in the Philippines. This place is home to the famous cloud 9 surf break, but the island itself is truly magical I spent 2 months in Siargao Island and it did not disappoint. Of course cloud 9 is outstanding, but there are several other surf breaks around for days when it is too big or busy.... Aside from the surf, Siargao is also an explorers paradise! There is so much to see. Including island hopping to the surrounding smaller islands and exploring the island itself. There are many tourist attractions like the Magpupungko Rock Pools, the Maasin Village palm tree swing and the Taktak falls. However, the highlight for me was the driving. It is quite large so offers some truly amazing motorbike routes to different parts of the island, where you can witness some really diverse topography. The roads are also relatively quiet which makes it all the more fun. Several times I drove and stayed the night at other surf spots around the North of the island. There was not much diving to be offered when I inquired at the one dive shop at the time, they also did not seem very enthused about it. However I feel it may be a hidden gem due to its geographical location and I found snorkeling from land quite nice. Also, they have a lovely night market where I did my first Filipino karaoke. Remember, you have not properly travelled the Philippines unless you did karaoke Have you visited Siargao? If not I suggest putting it on your travel list for once the world opens up again. It’s a beautiful place. @philrems

El Nido, Palawan, Philippines Very worth a visit! When I first arrived in El Nido I was surprised to see a very busy place with lots of bars, hotels and restaurants all squeezed into one tiny area. This was very unlike what I had seen in the rest of the Philippines so far.... However when I approached the beach I understood why, everybody wanted be close to the beautiful views!!! It is an absolutely stunning spot. Being out on a SUP, boat or kayak to take in the surrounding scenery is simply perfect. I stayed 4 days as that was enough for me, it is quite a busy place and I found myself to be a little too old for the town itself and there are far better places to be on land in the Philippines in my opinion. Aside from the breathtaking scenery, the snorkeling was quite nice, but I did not dive here. I saved myself for the ship wrecks in Coron which were AMAZING. But that’s a story for another time. Can anybody recommend the diving in El Nido? @warrencamitan

The descent = the best feeling in the world When you have been up way too early to get to the dive centre that you only had time for half a coffee. Usually followed by a meet and greet before a fun boat trip with much anticipation and build up.... Getting ready always takes far too long but you need to get it right with adequate warmth and all the checks in place. Then you hit the water and the excitement, plus nerves if you have not scuba dived in a while, builds up to the maximum. Then the descent starts, that moment that you have been waiting for, when you see where you are going and realise that you have entered a different world. A world so full or relaxation and wonder where you have no idea what you may encounter, but the wonder of it all occupies your mind so completely that you enter a state of meditation. Why do you love diving?

Fishing gear accounts for almost 50% of marine plastic. This is such a huge number! The lost gear continues to catch marine life, as it is designed to do. This has an undoubted but poorly documented effect on the local and global marine ecosystem. It is clearly undesirable and nobody benefits from Ghost Gear being present in the ocean. Animals are needlessly killed by this Ghost Gear which, unless removed from the sea, continues in a vicious circle of catching animals which i...n turn act as bait for larger animals and so on. We still think it’s absolutely amazing that they can be recovered from the ocean and recycled to make swimwear! All swimwear contains plastic, so why not make it wasted ocean fishing nets! Volunteer dive teams work really hard putting together operations and organizing recovery missions for these huge heavy nets that are often in deep water. Ghost Fishing divers survey the site first and collect data on the ghost gear and any animals trapped, alive and dead. Data is collected, which is critical in providing evidence of the ghost gear problem and adds weight to the mission to reduce it. The technique of removal involves divers attaching bags to the gear, which the diver fills with air, making them float. The divers then cut the gear free as close to the seabed as possible. Great care is needed to ensure that the diver does not become entangled with the equipment. This involves a high degree of teamwork, coordination and discipline. There is a lot of work involved in recycled plastic swimwear, therefore of course it is more expensive. However, this fabric is built to last, so you should get a good amount of wear out of it. Choose well and choose recycled
