. Now let your mind wander into the art of Jon Foreman @sculpttheworld We all know the experience of the mind spiraling into negative thoughts. Studies from Psychology Today show that up to 70% of our thoughts are negative. It is suggested that our thoughts stem from goals and values we blindly subscribe to as well our brains being hardwired to focus on the bad stuff. This once served our survival back in the days when we had to be on constant look...out for predators. In today's world however, this doesn't seem to serve us. So what are some steps we can take when they do occur? Choose a higher thought or story. Think of your unique adult version of "butterflies and rainbows". A story that reflects gratitude and joy. Focus on the breath. This naturally allows your brain a pause to return to the present moment and take you out of the past or future. Get movement. Place your body in a quick yoga flow, outside on a walk, and the mind will follow. Focus on patterns. Look for multiple objects of the same color, texture or shape. For example, Jon Foreman's artwork but IRL. This helps calm and distract the mind. Be kind to yourself. Save this post for when you might need it
