After Craig’s swim camp, Craig, Karen and I, drove to the first race of the summer season. This was my first professional marathon race on the FINA World Cup Series. It was the 42km Traversee International du Lac Memphramagog, from Newport, Vermont to Magog, Canada - 26 miles of cold water racing. For the town, Magog. it was a weekend of water and music festivities. The swimmers were in a parade. Each swimmer had their own boat that was sponsored. This year I had McDonalds. M...y coach, my fluids, extra gear and boat driver were in the support boat. My job was to race and I followed the boats navigation. I thrives on the moments when my coach would write messages on a board. My mind started remembering. My early ages and experiences. And I raced from the energy from the emotions of those memories. 11 hours 2 min later and swollen eyes from too tight goggles, I placed 6th woman. Karen came up to me and said, Welcome to the Pro’s. . . . . #seeherswim, #coldwaterswimming, #femaleathletes, #swim , #swimming , #womanathletes , #womanpreneur #femaleempowerment #womanswimming #marathonswimming #marathonswimmer #marathonswim

Trinity Lake, Northern California. Camping with friends and keeping it sweetly simple for all ages, with SUP, floats, and swimmer fun. I love this scale of human to nature where we can say, I want to go there, and we go. And that’s it. That’s the rhythm. . . . .... #northerncalifornialakes, #lakeplay #waterplay #funwithkids #swimming #morenaturethanpeople See more

In the 1970s Speedo added elastane to their swimsuits. This enhanced the suits elasticity, durability and reduced water drag. In the 1972 Olympics, 21 out of 22 records were broken from swimmers wearing nylon/elastane suits. In 1973 East German women broke 10 out of 14 records during a World Championship and wore the ‘skinsuit, which was form fitting and very tight on the body. The synthetic materials and the tight, form fit became the standard for competitive swimwear. Ye...s, for training or exercise swimsuits these have withstood the test of time. Pictured here are examples. After 35 years of wearing variations of these, I want a more fun, feminine, sophisticated style that too, can hold up to my physical demands and aquatic adventures. Therefore, I am creating a swimsuit company called, See Her Swim. I want to break the mold of what a training suit is, and can do. See Her Swim suits are dedicated to her- gracefully fusing her inner depth with her outer athleticism. @seeherswim. . . . . . . #swimsuits, #swimsuits, #trainingswimming ,#swimtraining ,#womanpower,#womanathletes, #femaleempowerment , #swim ,#swimming See more

On this World Cup Circuit, many races are 1 week apart. Race #2 was a 5hr drive north into Canada from Lake Magog to Lac St. Jean. This was a 32km(19.8miles) cold water race which started with what seemed a 12 ft jump off a wall and into cold water. I clearly remember many swimmers constantly yelling swear words at how cold it was. In this race, I don’t see much land. We cross in the middle and there are not many distractions. Every once in a while a recreation boater or sail...boat comes by and cheer on. All my knowing and associations are unraveled. My nerves are so sensitive. There is no escape. Quitting is not an option. My self and the cold lake water are one. Yet I’m competing in a race that lasts 9-10hours and a high stroke count of 70-80 strokes a minute. This Canadian race was also part of the town’s celebration with parades and street festivities. We stayed with host families and after some tough living situations like sleeping in a run down trailer, I was connected to a wonderful host, person and friend, Helene T. After a long swim, it’s actually quite hard to fall asleep. My heart rate is still going, my shoulders and hips are sore and I’m hungry every few hours. So some dancing and celebrating is welcomed and the camaraderie with the other international racers is enjoyed. Usually we take 1 day off and get back into the water the following to prepare for the next weeks race.
