I will never understand why we had to lose our babies to such a preventable tragedy. But, we believe in the power of individuals to create change and to leave t...he world better for the next generations. To each of you- family, friends, strangers- who have reached out and who are taking drowning prevention seriously, we feel you and are incredibly grateful. Together, we can change the future and spread awareness about @therealtruthaboutdrowning . We invite parents, physicians, nurses, community members, preschools, etc... to join us in the movement to end this drowning epidemic. Please join us in our September Challenge: 1. Print out this flyer (link below) and hang it in your physician’s office, in your preschool, in the local library. 2. Take a picture with the flyer (with your pediatrician or librarian or preschool teacher!) 3. Share with us and use the hashtags: #emmyandlevi and #drowningprevention. The American Academy of Pediatrics emailed this flyer (and a heartfelt message) to all 66,000 members of their organization. Change is happening, and we are grateful to each of you for believing in this cause with us. Let’s continue this important conversation. Monday TODAY SHOW interview. Do you know that in recent polls 70-90% of pediatricians don’t discuss drowning prevention but they always ask if your kids are e...ating vegetables and washing their hands! This is the LEADING cause of death in children ages 1-4, not eating habits, car accidents or hygiene! Why wouldn’t they discuss water safety? Truth be told my kids don’t eat their veggies all the time (not as often as I’d like them to... but they can self-rescue in the water) They also forget to wash their hands.... we can deal with a cold, virus, bug but we can’t deal with drowning.......!
