Mark your calendar, Saturday, May 1st we are all things pool registration! Health and Safety At the pool we are implementing:... Enhanced cleaning protocol: high contact surfaces will be sanitized throughout the day. Contactless payment: advance online booking or visiting the Monona Community Center to purchase your swim session is now required for all swim reservations. Swim sessions: to reduce capacity at the pool and give more visitors a chance to swim, swim time will be booked per timed session. Masks: all visitors must wear face coverings over their noses and mouths while on pool deck. Masks do not need to be worn when actively swimming or entering/exiting the swimming area. We’ve spent the winter working hard to plan for the safe execution of the Monona Community Pool during the Covid-19 pandemic, and are excited to welcome you all back! https://www.mymonona.com/299/Community-Pool

POOL CLOSED FOR THE 2020 SEASON The Monona City Council voted at their meeting on June 1 not to open the outdoor pool this season, citing concerns with patron safety and fiscal responsibility due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dane County’s Forward Dane reopening plan allows public pools to open at 25% capacity in phases 1 and 2, and City staff prepared a plan of revised pool operations for the City Council’s consideration. The plan included revised hours, capacity limits, socia...l distancing requirements, the elimination of deck furniture, and increased admission fees. The pool would not be ready to open until July 1, and staff estimated a loss of $40,000 for the season which would need to be transferred from the City’s general fund balance. Taking all things into consideration, along with guidance from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services that discouraged the opening of public pools, the City Council unanimously decided that opening the pool was not in the best interest of the Monona community this summer due to concerns regarding COVID-19. The City Council expressed their sincere gratitude for those residents who provided their input and feedback on this difficult decision.
