We’ve only explored 5% of Earth’s oceans. Proteus will be like an international space station for the ocean.
We’re getting warmer.
Our first rendering of + POOL was made 9 years after September 11th in the midst of rebuilding the World Trade Center. It captured the imagination of so many and our efforts have been made possible with the curious, collective, creative power of so many amazing people in New York. We’ve been through a lot as a city, but we #neverforget and we always #BuildBackBetter. #2020 will be no different.
Our friends at Terreform ONE created The Anti-Extinction Library to shelter the embryonic cells and DNA of rare lifeforms to educate on climate change.
Public-space design is a critical piece of maintaining democracy and cosmopolitan city life

"I’ve been swimming. I get up and swim half a mile every morning right away. It seems like I could go longer if I wanted to. It’s changed how I feel about the day. I feel very good. "
Would be super rad if NYC followed suit.
Ideas for New York. Keep ‘em coming.

Why New Yorkers love New York :)
We made some new friends this Saturday when some amazing volunteers came out for Riverkeeper’s Annual Riversweep. Renee, Jan and Soleil joined us to "sweep" the streets along the Brooklyn Bridge Esplanade (where we hope to install + POOL following last year's big news) to make sure the gunk in the streets doesn't become gunk in the water. The Annual Riversweep is a State-wide initiative led by our friends at Riverkeeper who are working towards a trash-free Hudson River Estuary. More at Riverkeeper.org
Unnecessary junk in the water is preventable with your help! Join Riverkeeper and us for a socially-distanced river sweep on October 17th along the Brooklyn Bridge Esplanade.
Shout out to our summer 2020 water sampler, Matt Mahon! Thanks for biking every week to the river, sometimes in the rain, for science and for all of us to take one step closer to East River swimming!
Shout out to the amazing volunteers who came out for Riverkeeper’s Annual Riversweep on Saturday! The + POOL contingent of this State-wide initiative swept the Brooklyn Bridge Esplanade from Pier 35 to Pier 17 to make sure gunk in the streets doesnt become gunk in the river. Our wildest find: a space heater. PSA: Don’t throw your space heaters in the streets, folks. Big thanks to American Rivers and Riverkeeper for providing materials so we could safely perform our civic service duty in the age of Covid and an extra big thanks to The Howard Hughes Corporation for taking our garbage at the end of the day. #CleanRivers #Riversweep #southstreetseaport #pier35 #pier17
