The pool was dug on September 15th and the surface was applied today...I would say a 3 week pool build isn’t bad?!?! Tomorrow we will acid wash the surface to expose the pebble and then start filling it! These homeowners picked Irish Mist for their surface color. I’ll get an up close of the tile and coping when I go out there later!

Here’s a little story I have taken care of this pool for probably 7 years, up until about a year ago. This pool has ALWAYS had a slow leak. Homeowners weren’t too concerned, as they just filled it up a little more often than most would have too. Another company was taking care of the pool, and the freeze hit. Bless their hearts is all I can say. (They did locate a small leak on one side of deck near the diving board) ... The homeowner called me desperate right after Memorial Day stating that the pool had been down for almost 4 months, it was green, not running and losing a LOT of water and you could see it coming out at the bottom of the 10’ retailing wall (photo 1) We got the equipment up and going, did some major chemicals and spent many hours vacuuming, backwashing, cleaning the filter so that they would have a clear pool by July 4th, for their guests that all they want to do, is swim!!! We have had to keep the water hose on FULL blast, 24 hours a day!!! That’s how much water they were now losing. As with all crews out there, everyone is weeks behind! A leak detection crew called and had an opening - we took it! They located the leak (picture with blue tape) I was grateful it wasn’t further down this 10’ wall! My dad ran into a plumber of ours at the supply house and they were going to be pretty darn close to this pool this week and was able to make the repair!!! I took pictures of what they cut outas you can see, the top pipe was never plumbed I straight, nor was one side off the T! This is why the pool was always losing some water! Under this, the plumbing was just crushedhad to be the weight of the wet dirt constantly on it, then the freeze happened and it burst! Repair has been made, fill dirt will be added and concrete on top. The homeowners know that they will have to address the wall at some point, because with all that water over the years, the integrity is definitely compromised.

Plumbing going in!! For those of you who have a pool already, I want to discuss something. At some point, your pool may have a leak. After making sure all of the equipment is holding and all of the obvious above ground issues are addressed, your pool may still lose water. At that point we recommend a leak detection. This can run anywhere for $200 - $450 possibly higher. The pricing is based off how many plumbing lines you may have. They plug each one off and listen and pressure each line. If you don’t think that’s time consuming, look at how many pipes there are and all the different directions they go. Keep in mind, this is a pool only, add about 6-9 more lines if you have a spa, and more if you have water features!!! It may be expensive, but you’ll know exactly which line is losing water!
