At this time our staff are preparing to evacuate and we are unavailable to address any pool issues. To our clients and other pool owners we would suggest the following: Before the Storm... DO NOT EMPTY THE POOL. Keeping water inside provides the crucial weight that is needed to support the structure during high winds and the ground being saturated. It is important that all electrical power be turned off at the circuit breakers before the storm hits. Remove outside objects including potted plants, furniture, umbrellas, wind chimes, exterior decorations and any other objects that could be moved with high wind and damage your pool or home. Do not put any objects, such as patio furniture, in your swimming pool. It can stain or damage it. Add 2-3 pounds of shock to your pool the night before the hurricane. This will give you some extra residual chlorine to address any contaminants the rain washes into the pool. Leslie's sell's shock in 1 pound bags. Just pour it in the deep end and brush it a few times with your brush so it doesn’t sit on the bottom. After the Storm Remove as much debris such as limbs, leaves, etc. out of your pool as soon as it is safe. This includes skimmer baskets and pump baskets. The faster you can remove debris the better for your pool. It will help prevent it turning green, staining, etc. After the rain has passed please add another 2-3 pounds of shock that evening. This is especially important if you have a freshwater pool and it is not equipped with an in-line chlorinator. If you don’t have an in-line chlorinator it would be best to add one.
