With the mild winter weather we are experiencing and Spring in the near future, we are all feeling the itch to get outside and plan our next adventure. While Kittitas County remains in Phase 1 and current state mandates are in place, the City of Ellensburg will not be issuing Picnic Shelter Permits at this time. When we move into Phase 2 of the Healthy Washington Roadmap to Recovery we will review the guidelines set in place for that particular phase and notify the community as to when those permits will become available. Until then, please utilize and enjoy the various parks, shelters, trails and other wonderful spaces our park system has to offer. As a friendly reminder, if you choose to visit these open spaces please be mindful of social distancing and taking safety precautions when necessary.

With the new fallen snow comes new recreational opportunities. For the first time this year, the Rotary Park xc ski trails were groomed this morning! A huge thank you to the volunteers from the Ellensburg Cross Country Ski Club for making that happen. For the little ones, go check out the sledding hill at North Alder Street Park. We have portable a restroom at the park, covered shelter for you to sit and enjoy a bagged lunch, and festive lights for those who want to sled at night! While enjoying our parks we ask that you follow proper social distancing and protective guidelines such as masking.

Below are 4 reasons why being vigilant when your children are having fun in the water is so important. For more information please contact the Kittitas County Public Health Department at 509.962.7515 or visit https://www.co.kittitas.wa.us/health.
