Governor Abbott just released a revised opening plan that allows apartment pools to open this Friday, May 8th. Pools and pool areas are to be limited to 25% capacity. See below for the part of the order about the pools: Swimming pools; provided, however, that (1) indoor swimming poois may operate at up to 25 percent of the total listed occupancy of the pooi facility; (ii) outdoor swimming pools may operate at up to 25 percent of normal operating limits as determined by the pooi operator; and (iii) local public swimming pools may so operate only if permitted by the local government.

Received this from the TAA today regarding opening apartment pools. Apartment pools: Should NOT open May 1. Apartment pools are classified as Class C pools, and must follow the same rules as public pools. Phase 2 guidelines (coming May 18 or later) may address opening of public pools.

And the confusion continues. The City of Houston has reversed their stance and are now allowing pools to open as long as the practices in the order are followed.

Heads up, even though the Governor has opened pools Harris County is saying no. No pools are permitted to open until at least May 20 when the current stay home order expires. No word yet on if it will be extended and what will be impacted.
