Slow and steady wins the race!! Sometimes children need smaller approximations and more time. However, the result is the same. They WILL learn to self rescue! This is huge progress today!! Watch those feet come up and that beautiful horizontal float!! Oh, and the sweetest pep talk. I got it! YES! YOU DO!! [email protected]

For those that maybe wondering what winter clothing is in ISR, well, here it is. This little guy is dressed in a diaper, swim diaper, sweat pants, a shirt, hoodie, socks and sandals. Let me start by saying, L is FULLY skilled. These procedures would never be done unless the child is fully skilled. With that being said, these extra layers weigh a good 5 to 8 pounds when wet. If you have read my posts before about clothing, you already know this. The added weight is extremely... hard to navigate with but this little guys knows exactly where to find his air, rest and be safe!! I can not stress the importance of a child knowing how to float enough! I also can’t stress enough that MOST accidents happen when they are least expected to happen. This is what makes them accidents. I also want to add, our main priority from day 1 of lessons IS breath control. Most parents seem to wonder, are they swallowing water? While being in the water, of course water can and will be swallowed but in very small amounts. When a child enters the water, they know to hold their breath until they are no longer submerged. This is also huge in a situation where a child finds themselves in the water alone. It buys seconds and while seconds don’t seem like much, they are HUGE!! I truly want people to understand what ISR is and that it is NOT about throwing unskilled children into the water. In fact, we never throw any child in the water, EVER!! While we simulate different fall ins, these fall ins are gentle. This is a 2ish minute video of what a lesson may look like at the end of lessons. Take a moment to watch! This little guy is an all star!!! Also know, these lessons could have saved MY children’s lives!! That is a hard pill to swallow at the end of every session. At the end of this session, 22 students will be safer #becauseofJaxonandLeyton #infantswimmingresource [email protected] Infantswim.com LiveLikeJake.com Pray 4 Jaxon Support Page , Jaxon's Journey Leyton's Legacy

L wants everyone to know, if she falls into the water, unsupervised, she will be okay until help arrives!! This is SELF rescue. She relies on no floatation device, she CAN do it by herself!! [email protected]
