After 2 years of working with the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation and Caritas Habana and Caritas Cuba the Rotary Clubs in D5790 are happy to see the fruits of the collaboration. 120 wheelchairs delivered!

Very nice piece of Rotary History in Havana: Le Trianon building on Galiano (Italia) St in Central Havana that won a the 2nd place prize for Architecture. Hopefully it can be saved!

Thanks to the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation and Caritas Cuba as well as MINSAP and Rotary Clubs from D5790 in making sure the wheelchair project was able to get through 2 years of red tape and actually place these miracles of mobility in the the hands of the recipients!

It took about a year of leg work, but right now, somewhere in the oceans between eastern Canada and Cuba, we have a 40 meter shipping container packed with much needed medical equipment, like hospital beds and dialysis units, coming to Havana! In a month it will get here where its priceless contents will be distributed amongst some very under equipped centers for children with disabilities, the elderly, and much more. A million thanks our friends at Rotary, District 5050, and Rotary World Help for helping make this happen! If any Rotary Club is interested in doing a project in Cuba here is a great opportunity: Caritas Cuba (the Catholic Charity in Cuba) is looking for a partner for a program for children and adolescents in 3 Cuban provinces. The program will create extracurricular activities for study groups, arts, and sports. We are very sad about the news of the passage of a strong tornado through Cuba last night, leaving 3 victims, 176 injured and causing many disasters in the city. Our condolences to all the relatives of the victims and affected. #FuerzaCuba #rotaryinternational #rotary
