GPS Tip of the Week: Are you constantly fighting algae in your pool or spa? Does it seem like every time your sanitizer level drops you begin to see green? A clean filter, maintaining Ph and sanitizer is paramount, but dont forget to check your PHOSPHATE levels. Phosphates are food for algae! Some municipalities add phosphates to their water to decrease pipe corrosion so its important to check these levels. This is a quick, free test from GPS. Call today!

Specialty pumps, jet pumps, variable speed pumps...GPS installs them all!

08.12.2021

GPS Tip of the Week: This post is inspired by my brother & sister-in-law who are looking into a new pool..... Pools are costly, so is running your pump. Single-speed pumps can cost roughly $900/year to operate (depends on what region you live in). Why are they so costly? They constantly use the speed needed to meet the pumps most demanding job...i.e., water feaures, pool cleaners, etc. However, a pump needs far less power to filter water...this cannot be addressed by a singl...e-speed pump. So whats the answer? A Pentair variable-speed pump installed by Griego Pool Service...thats the answer! These variable speed pumps can be programmed to operate at set speeds to deliver the correct flow for each task it has to perfrom. The bottom line: slower pump speeds save $$$! Happy & healthy swimming to all! ~GPS

GPS Tip of the Week: Trying to save money & water? If so, we're glad to hear that you're both budget conscious and environmentally conscious. Here's a few tips to save your wallet AND California's most precious resource... 1. If you have a pool heater, try reducing the temperature during the summer. Doing so reduces the occurrence of water loss to evaporation. Also use a pool cover! 2. The sun quickens the dissipation of chlorine, making the evening the best time to add sanit...izer to your pool. If the sanitizer is added automatically while the pump is on, run the pump at night for best efficiency. 3. Empty the filter backwash onto lawns and shrubs or collect it to reuse. Make sure your landscaping has absorbed the backwash before it leaves your property. In many municipalities it is illegal to empty pool backwash water into the street or storm drains! You could see the fire department and a heafty fine! Happy & healthy swimming to all! ~GPS See more

Its pool time again! Here are some safety tips (focused on children) from Pentair... the leader in equipment technology. SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR CHILDREN: ALWAYS supervise children when they are in or around your pool or any water environment (stream, bath tub, toilet, bucket of water), no matter what skills your child has acquired and no matter how shallow the water. ... Install physical barriers around your pool and spa to prevent access by young children. If your house forms one side of the barrier to the pool, then doors leading from the house to the pool should be equipped with alarms that sound when the doors are unexpectedly opened. For aboveground pools, steps and ladders to the pool should be secured or removed when the pool is not in use. Keep children off the main drain. The suction from the pump could trap them underwater. Don't leave toys in the water. Toys can lure a child into the pool. Enroll your children in a water safety course and/or swimming classes. Never use flotation devices or inflatable toys to replace parental supervision. Do not use air-filled swimming aids as a substitute for approved life vests. Do not allow children to eat or chew gum while in the water to prevent choking. Parents and anyone supervising children should know cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic first aid. Post CPR instructions in your pool area. After you are done swimming, secure the pool so children can’t enter.
