Wondering what to do with the pool when our temperatures reach freezing? Run the pool continuously until the freeze is over. Our ground does not freeze here in New Orleans and running the warmer water through your pipes should protect them. However if the temperature gets into the 20's I would recommend covering the equipment and piping while running. It is not necessary or advised to run the heater when doing this. The heat from the motor will keep the pipes and equipment from freezing. Pay special attention to the thinner pipes and tubing (3/4" and smaller). Most automation systems will be automatically programed to self protect in freezing temperatures. However again, covering equipment if temperatures reach the 20's would be prudent.
