This one deserves a post all by itself. This student had a true fear of the deep end of the swimming pool. During his first week of lessons, he quickly learned ...how to swim in the shallow end of the pool. As with all of our students, once we learn how to swim in the shallow end, we apply what we have learned in the deep end of the pool. This is where the progression in learning to swim basically stopped. His mother signed him up for another week of lessons. He cried every day, and begged her not to bring him. He wanted to quit, and told his mother he wasn’t going to do it. His mom told him that quitting isn’t an option when it comes to learning how to swim. He was here every day. Swimming perfectly across the shallow end . When he jumped into the deep end , though, his heart would race, and his body would get completely vertical and stiff. At the end of week 2, he still was not swimming in the deep end. He cried all weekend, and begged his mom not to bring him to swimming lessons. Although it was tough watch him cry and go through this, his mom made him show up for week 3. She told him, quitting isn’t an option, especially when you’re learning a skill that could save your life one day. Here we are at the end of Week 3 Look who jumped in the deep end and swam by himself!! He had so much fun jumping in and swimming in the deep end once he finally believed in himself! His mom did the right thing, and he’s already thanking her for not letting him quit. Kiesha Washington Morrison and Alyssa Leigh Reuther were a huge part of this process and getting Xavier where he is today. This was such a proud moment today! It’s not always easy, and this wasn’t an easy process at all. However, this kid learned many valuable lessons from this experience. and he LIKES swimming in the deep end of the pool. He said he wasn’t jumping on 3 like everyone else, so he made me count to 5! See more

Thanks to Elisha Wilkinson, this group of young ladies Queens started swimming with us on Monday, and were swimming and diving in after only two lessons! Thei...r determination to swim and their positive mind-set is what made teaching and learning to swim so easy and so much fun! We’ll all remember this awesome week for the rest of our lives! Just a few pics from swimming lessons this week. Many have asked if we will teach in August....Missy Murphy and I are taking a little break this week, but we wi...ll continue teaching classes (4:00 and 5:00) and on weekends. The next available week will be August 10-14. We are so impressed with how quickly these kiddos ( and adults) learn to swim, dive, and gain confidence in the water! People often ask, How do you swim and tread water all day long? This is how...helping and watching people make progress and gain confidence doing something that can be both life-saving and enjoyable is what keeps us in the water all day! We love it! As usual, though, I failed to take pictures of everyone, and I regret that. But we are so proud of the progress made by everyone in the past four days! See more

Swimming lessons May 10-14 Despite the rain, thunderstorms, and chili temperatures earlier in the week, we were able to make up for it, and we all accomplished ...SO MUCH! I’m so proud of these little fish! Of course, Friday’s are always best, and I can back away and take some pictures of their swimming lessons. I’m especially thankful for the parents of these children for hanging in there. Success always follows patience, some challenges, and hard work! See more
