Is it ok to swim in cloudy pool water? Cloudiness is caused by several reasons such as the growth of algae. It’s not considered safe to swim in cloudy water as it may cause burning eyes, itchy skin and illness.

The most common pool filter is the D.E. filter. That stands for diatomaceous earth, which enables the filter to trap particles that are as small as 1 to 3 microns in diameter. How small is that? The human eye is incapable is seeing an object that is smaller than 40 microns.
