Floating island in full bloom.
Flooding last weekend. Lake Hallett rose almost 2 feet due to millions of gallons of stormwater flooding the paths and making the fishing pier an island...again.
This Monday night at 5:30 pm the MPCA will be presenting an updated report on the declining water quality in Lake Hallett. This was first presented to the City Council in 2018. Since then our community lake has reached the tipping point for being on the impaired waters list and our new trail and fishing pier have been flooded twice this summer because of the storm water draining into the lake. The storm water is also the reason for the declining water quality. Sorry for the short notice but this has just come to our attention. You can attend this meeting in person, online or by phone. The information is in the link. https://www.saintpetermn.gov//ViewFile/Agenda/_09212020-483
Stormwater also discharges into our community lake. From the St. Peter City hotshot:
Beautiful morning for Gustavus students at canoe class.
