How to make your hot tub cover last longer 1. Get Protection: Spray your cover with a UV/UVB protector (apply as directed in instructions), this will keep your cover shiny and new. 2. When cleaning, shocking or adding chemicals to your spa, do not put on your cover, leave your hot tub for 15- 20 min (in doing so the gases don’t get trapped underneath the cover) this increases the longevity of your spa cover. ... 3. Air out your spa cover once a week for at least 20 mins , this extends the life of your cover two to three years.

True or False? My pool has a very strong chlorine odor. Is there too much chlorine in my pool? The answer is False. No, you don't have enough "free chlorine" in your pool. Most pools contain both good chlorine and bad chlorine. The good chlorine is called free chlorine and is capable of killing germs. Bad chlorine, on the other hand, is called "combined chlorine" and is a poor germ killer. Too much combined chlorine in your pool causes the strong chlorine odor. When the combined chlorine level reaches 0.2 ppm or more, it is time to shock your water. Shocking will eliminate the odor.

TIPS ON MAINTAINING A POOL DURING OFF SEASON! Many homeowners think that off-season pool maintenance consists of draining the pool water and throwing a pool cover on. That’s it. Unfortunately, it’s not that easy. Being a pool owner is a full-time responsibility that requires year-round maintenance for part-time enjoyment. Proper care and protection of your pool equipment during the colder months involves draining the pool water to the right level and adding winterizing chemic...als, constantly checking the system to prevent freezing, regularly cleaning debris on and around the pool cover, and opening your pool early. Winterizing chemicals are essential for keeping pools clean and safe during the colder months. The first step is always to test your pool water so you can make informed decisions about what your pool needs to survive the winter. Then, balance the pH and chlorine levels as well as add algaecide and stain prevention chemicals. Algaecide is one of the most important winterizing agents available, as it will kill algae and other growth, making pool reopening procedures a breeze. Just because your pool is covered doesn’t mean debris can’t find its way in. Always check and clean the pool interior of any unwanted remains. If debris gets in the pool equipment, it could cause damage. Make sure the cover stays clean as well, so when it’s ready to be removed come spring season, you won’t have any trash fall into the pool. Finally, OPEN EARLY! If you want to increase your pool’s lifespan and make spring opening easy, don’t neglect these vital maintenance instructions. We offer OFF SEASON CHEMICAL CIRCULATIONS to keep your pool water balanced. Contact us today to get on the schedule for a Fall and Spring chemical circulation. We can be reached at [email protected] or 410-721-0074.

Do you know which chemicals your pool needs for closing season? Pool closing chemicals are designed to work slowly over winter, and are formulated to stay viable in cold water temperatures. You can start to prep your pool a week prior to closing so that the chemicals have time to circulate for a day or two, and your pool will be clean, clear and balanced for closing! 3 days before closing your pool you need to make sure your pool's pH, Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness leve...ls are adjusted and balanced. 2 days before closing your pool, if your pool has a history of opening with green algae, using a phosphate remover or pool enzymes can be a real problem solver and help clear and purify your water. 1 day before closing your pool, you can add stain and scale preventer. It works best when it has at least 8 hours to circulate. Once your ready to start closing the pool, you can add winter algaecide and non-chlorine shock once you've lowered the water level before your pool cover goes on. If your pH and alkalinity levels have been erratic this season, take care to adjust beforehand, and check levels during winter. Also, make sure you don’t add everything all at once, or add everything except the shock which should be added separately, either before or after, by at least 8 hours. To help ensure your pool has a cleaner and clearer opening for next season; We'll help you close down your pool for the winter with our professional pool winterization services, and when it's time for summer fun, we'll help you get it back up and running in no time! Ensuring that your swimming pool is ready for the winter is key! Check out our tips below on maintaining a clean swimming pool, even after it closes for the season. No one likes when it is time to close the pool. But it can be even worse if you go to open the pool in the spring to find excess bacteria and mold floating in and around your pool area. Here are some quick tips to help ensure your pool survives the winter. For starters, make sure you have your pool professionally... closed for the winter. Don’t take chances with frozen lines and damaging your equipment by not having it all properly taken care of for the winter. From the pump to the cover, the proper winterization approach is key. We HIGHLY recommend getting chemical circulations during the off season especially for pool owners that have a MESH pool cover to avoid a costly opening in the spring. If you are interested in a fall and spring chemical circulation please give us a call to get on the schedule! 410-721-0074 or email us at [email protected]

Tips for End of Season Swimming Pool Maintenance! There never is any easy way to say farewell to the warm months of summer, and closing up the pool for the season signifies that it’s time to start planning for the autumn and winter holidays. Prepping a pool for the colder months is necessary by early autumn and thankfully it is not all that challenging to do. Doing it right, though, is essential to making sure the pool stays in great shape for next season. Order Pool Closi...ng Supplies. A week or two before closing your pool, make sure you've stocked up on all of your pool parts and chemicals. Balance the Water. In order to prepare the pool for closing, you’ll need to get the pH alkalinity and calcium hardness levels balanced and properly aligned. Add Stain and Scale Prevention. After brushing the stains out of your pool in the days before closing, add stain prevention and scale prevention products to ensure that none of those trouble areas return. If stains sit all winter, they will be even harder to remove when you open for next season. Use Chlorine Shock. One particularly useful thing to do before covering the pool is to add a chlorine shock to kill any bacteria or algae that may still be lurking in the water. By doing these steps, you will be ready for your pool closing! Make sure you've booked your pool closing, if not give send us an email at [email protected] or give us a call at (410)-721-0074 to schedule yours!

WHY USE A COVER PUMP FOR THE WINTER?!! Cover Pumps are an essential pool closing accessory if you own an inground pool or an above ground pool. Cover Pumps sit atop your winter pool cover and pump water off of its surface after it reaches a certain level. This alleviates stress and weight off of your pool cover throughout the course of the winter. Swimming pool cover pumps also add a measure of safety for winterizing an inground pool by eliminating the need to knock heavy sn...ow off the cover yourself. You simply wait for the snow to melt, and let the safety cover pump do the rest of the work. Automatic cover pumps will turn themselves on and off to keep the cover mostly pumped off, automatically. Manual cover pumps will run whenever plugged in, and are thus used intermittently, and unplugged when not in use.

NOVEMBER IS TYPE 1 DIABETES AWARENESS MONTH AND WE SUPPORT TYPE 1 DIABETES AWARENESS WE HAVE OUR OWN T1D WARRIOR AND WE HOPE FOR A CURE WHAT IS TYPE 1 DIABETES (T1D) - #KnowTheFacts ... #Type1Diabetes is a chronic, AUTOIMMUNE disease. #T1D occurs when the immune system attacks and destroys the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas. Insulin is a hormone that regulates blood sugars. Without insulin, sugar stays in the blood and can cause serious damage to organ systems and lead to Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) which is life threatening. Approximately 5% of the global diabetes community have this form of diabetes. Since a person with T1D’s body does not produce any insulin they need to inject or pump insulin into their bodies every day to carefully help regulate their blood sugars. Blood sugar levels must be monitored either with finger pricks or by wearing a continuous glucose monitor attached to their body. Diet and/or exercise are NOT cures for T1D. Type 1 Diabetes is NOT the same as Type 2 Diabetes. Learning about T1D can help save someone's life.

WHY WINTERIZE YOUR POOL?!! Winterizing is the process of getting your pool ready to hunker down over the winter and get by without any maintenance. Normally, if you left your pool unmaintained for even a week or so during swimming season, you’d be in for trouble. Algae and debris would clog your pool. You could even end up with the dreaded green pool that can require days or weeks to recover from. But when you winterize your pool, you are preparing to go for months without ...any maintenance. It may sound like a fantasy, but it is possible to completely ignore your pool for a long time if you take the right steps. In the spring you will have to do a little work to get it back into shape for swimming season, but if you properly winterize your pool, you can keep the work to a minimum. The cold weather can do a number on your pool, and if it freezes over, your whole pool system could be in danger if it wasn’t adequately prepared. Winterizing your pool also keeps debris from autumn leaves and winter storms out of your pool. That saves you time and labor when it comes time to reopen your pool in the spring.

We just installed this brand new custom Loop Loc Safety Cover for one of our long-time clients! Look at this beauty **Traditional safety covers are either woven mesh or solid vinyl which are secured to your pool’s deck with straps to anchors around the entire perimeter of your pool in order to close your pool for the cooler season. Safety covers also prevent accidents as they provide extra protection for children, animals, and unintended guests. While winter covers may requ...ire maintenance during the winter to remove leaves and water, safety covers typically require very little attention. The main deterrent for not purchasing a safety cover over a winter cover is almost always price. However, keep in mind that a winter cover is only initially more cost effective upfront. In the long run, a safety cover, which on average lasts 12-15 years, will cost about the same as needing to replace a winter cover over the same course of time. If you take into account the added expenses of frequent water bag replacements, cover pumps, and the increased labor of springtime cover cleaning, a safety cover can even be cheaper in the long run.**
