Expression of Interest Applications for the 2017/18 pool season are now open! Are you a sporting club, community group, or health and fitness or wellbeing provider who is passionate about providing opportunities for the community to be healthy and active? We would love to hear from you! West Coast Council and @leisure Planners are seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals, providers or community organisations to run a range of activit...ies at the Queenstown and Rosebery Swimming Pools. The expression of interest relates to the 2017/18 pool season, commencing December 1, 2017, and concluding on February 28 2018. Royal Life Saving Tasmania is hosting a number of courses in November for anyone interested in furthering their skills and training in the aquatic industry. It was a good meeting last night with the community and Council. There is strong support to keep the pools going and some good questions about costs, programs and options. We look forward to further comments on the options by Friday. Thank you all for coming out especially in this weather. It was an eventful drive back to Burnie.

Congratulations to everyone who completed a Royal Life Saving course over the past few days. We had a 100% pass rate which is a fantastic result! We would also like to extend a big thank you to John and Denise from Royal Life Saving Tasmania for accommodating our small group and providing an excellent few days of training!

@leisure will be finalising its report for Council's consideration this week. This will go to the Council meeting later in the month. In the mean time, if you have suggestions about how to promote the pools and increase use, or suggestions for detailed improvements to the facilities we'd still be happy to hear them!

Watch out for the expression of interest coming soon for individuals or businesses to run classes or other activities at West Coast pools. We need to get the pools jumping this summer! This might be your opportunity to start a little business in fitness, swimming lessons, birthday parties or maybe selling food and beverages ???

We are excited to announce that West Coast Council has endorsed the West Coast Aquatics Strategy and sought the assistance of @leisure Planners to project manage the implementation of year one. Council will be seeking lifeguards and a pool co-ordinator to staff the pools this season. Royal Life Saving are hosting a three-day Pool Plant Operations course from 4 October in Clarence. This course is highly sought after in the aquatic industry and anyone interested in applying for work at a West Coast swimming pool is encouraged to complete the course. Time is running out to enrol!
