Sunday Swim Lessons: Using bubbles and blowing bubbles Today I show you some progressions on how to get your little ones blowing bubbles. I also am showing you how to utilize a straw and bubble ones in order to help them understand blowing bubbles as well as have a little fun. Always demonstrate what you are asking them to do and especially for bubbles, let them feel what blowing air feels like. When using a straw or bubble wand, once they have practiced a few times, start... to rotate between toy and blowing bubbles in the water Good luck! #minisminnows #swimming #swimlessons #swimlessonssavelives #quarantinelife #quarantineswimlessons #bubbles #bathtimebubbles #bathtime #bathtubswimming #bathtubswimlessons See more

Sunday Swim Lessons: sing! Swim lessons, in a pool, are full of songs, games, and a lot of skills. Since I am trying to make these bathtub lessons mimic what they would look like in a pool this week we are singing! Songs are a great way to have fun, cover skills, and get the babies wet! Here I am singing wheels on the bus and the grand duke of york. Wheels on the bus can have a lot of verses, feel free to add more to the song and just add a movement with it. Here I have wheel... on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round. The wheels on the bus go round and round all through the town. (Moving the baby in a circle) wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish (babies go left and right with getting their ears and cheeks wet with each pass). Kids go up and down, up and down, up and down (splash them as you come down, take them under water if you have enough room!) daddy’s on the bus get a little Whiplash, a little whiplash, a little whiplash (have the babies face you and lean them back, while supporting their heads, so their back of their heads, all the way to their ears, get wet!) Grand Duke of York There was a grand duke of York, he had 10,000 men. He marched them up the hill and he marched them down again! and when you’re up, your up, and when you’re down you’re down but when you’re only halfway up, your neither up or down. #minisminnows #swimlessons #bathtubswimming #bathtubswimlessons #sevenmonthsold #babiesswimming #quarantineswimlessons

Sunday Swim Lessons: Underwater *you do not have to be in the tub with them* This is the hardest skill but also one of the most important! All littles ones need to go underwater. They need to become familiar with being submerged. By scooping them underwater, the water will travel down their face and not go in their nose and mouth. Keep them at an angle and don’t lean them back until the water has finished dripping. Make sure their head is totally underwater, so that there is ...no chance of any air pockets or confusion. Be confident when doing it, be excited and happy for them and make sure the bath is full. If there is ever any coughing after you do it, don’t go underwater anymore that day! And review what happened, we’re they too shallow? Starting at six months, let’s get them underwater! #minisminnows #swimlessons #sevenmonthsold #babiesofinstagram #babiesswimming #bathtubswimlessons #quarantineswimlessons #underwater See more

Sunday Swim Lesson: a little bit of water and a lot of fun! For today’s lesson I want to talk about the back float some more. I know that this is my third post about it, but that should tell you how important it is. Today’s skill is definitely for the younger crowd or anyone who’s not comfortable on their back. Floating on your back is hard because a lot of kids are not comfortable on their back mostly because of water in their ears. This is a perfect way to get your little ...one used to having water in their ears, laying on their back independently, and just having some free play. Fill the tub with only a couple inches of water and lay them down on their backs. Rub their head to relax their neck or hold a toy behind them so they have to look back if you child is holding their head up. Don’t ever leave them unsupervised and watch for them to roll. If they do roll, it’s ok just watch their heads and make sure they are holding up their head and not drinking the water. Roll them back to their backs if they start doing this. #minisminnows #swimlessons #backfloat #babiesswimming #getthemswimming #quarantinelife #quarantineswimlessons #bathtub #bathtubswimming See more

Sunday swim lessons: Don’t just say it, do it! I realize today I didn’t film this in the we live in Florida and it was gorgeous out but this can be implemented in the shower or tub too. I want you to focus on what you are asking you child to do ( in the water) are you demonstrating it for them? Allowing them to do it to you? I think it is so important to mimic the behavior and actions you are working towards in the water just as you would outside of the pool. If you are... pouring water on their head, pour it on yours. If you’re saying put your face in the water, put yours in. If you’re blow bubbles, do it! I know I always say demonstrate it but we can’t expect our children to get comfortable underwater if we aren’t willing to get our own hair wet! They will love to see you under there with them #minisminnows #swimlessons #swimlessonssavelives #eightmonthsold #gounderwater #babiesofinstagram #babiesswimming See more
